Curious about how I've arrived at this figure? Here's my math:
- Donald Trump uses Tatango, a company that provides mass text message marketing services
- According to Tatango's site, they charge roughly $0.0075 per text message sent / received (I recognize the Trump Campaign may have negotiated a lower rate, but this is what is publicly available)
- Trump sends roughly 4-5 texts per day (120 per month)
- Let's assume ~50K people sign up
- Some simple multiplication yields $45K per month
This does three things to the Trump campaign:
- Costs the campaign money (duh)
- Prevents them from placing ads / sending additional texts to people who may actually be swayed by them
- Reduces ROI on text message marketing
